Randi was raised in a small town in Valara called Wimborne, just outside of the forests. The village was a mix of a whole host of different races and people, a very small trading town between the more major cities. It was a quiet, peaceful life. Her parents, Ronnie and Rosemary had fled to Wimborne long before Randi was born. They, like Randi, were wolf shifters, and had lived among others of their kind in the Lykos Caves. When things began to get dangerous there, they made a harrowing escape, wanting their children to be raised somewhere safer.
Wimborne accepted them with open arms, and Randi had a good childhood there, growing up with her older sister Rory. She first shifted at twelve years old, taking the form of a cream colored wolf. She would often drive back predators from the town in this form with her family, their way of showing thanks for their kindness in allowing them to stay. A certain amount of fear still exists when it comes to shifters, and more ignorant towns may never have trusted them enough to allow them to make a life there.
Rory was her best friend first, and sister second. She loved playing with her and engaging in deep, philosophical questions, even though Rory seemed more interested in the here and now. She was always hte more adventurous of the two, she seemed to long for more than their sleepy little town.
At sixteen, Randi awoke to find Rory had left without a trace. Her parents and her searched and searched, using their canine senses to try and track her down, but eventually, her trail ran cold. Randi had to accept the fact that her sister was gone, and a part of her was never the same after that.
To try and distract herself, she decided to apprentice under the local healer, learning her secrets and the power of herbal remedy. She tended to her gardens, mixed various potions, set broken bones, and cared for the sick and injured at their bedsides. It was where she discovered her love for nursing, which has been her passion ever since.
After soaking up all the knowledge she could, she left Wimborne to travel on her own, seeking out the counsel of the guardian Panacea, who ruled over healing and held the secret to the potion of universal remedy. Finding her in the Realm of the Gods, she learned even more from her, and the two even became friends. Healing became a true art for Randi, her skills honed with the help of the guardian, and while she could never recreate the potion of universal remedy (no mortal could), she learned how to make other potions of healing that went beyond the capacities of most mortals.
She now works in the Metro Hospital as a nurse, living in a small apartment across from the hospital, down the road from the Solar Cafe, but almost every weekend she takes the train home to see her parents. Recently, after many years, Rory came forward and found Randi at work. They have a lot to patch up, with a lot of mixed emotions all around, but Randi hopes that their relationship can be mended with time.
Given her parents' past, she resents any shifter who embraces their wolf side too much. She is adamant that she is always a human first, and wolf second, and has difficulty trusting other shifters who belong to "packs" like the one her parents once belonged to.
